Direct Directory Search Criteria
The LOOKUP command, the phiMail API command used to search the Direct directory, is designed for finding the address of a specific provider or organization and is not intended to support large-scale queries such as listings for an entire state or ZIP code. The phiMail server may cap the maximum number of results returned or the maximum amount of time spent performing a search.
The use of wildcards (*) in directory searches should be limited and wildcards should not be used with the City/Locality, State, ZIP, or Direct Address attributes (i.e. systems will not receive all available results if the search is too broad). In general, try performing a more specific search if no results are initially returned. For best results, a state or ZIP code should be included in every search.
Refer to the LOOKUP command in the phiMail API documentation for more details on the API command.
