Message Size in phiMail and phiMail Plus
Because other mail systems in the DirectTrust network handle a maximum message size of 10MB, phiMail restricts messages to a 10MB size limit, to optimize interoperability. Message encryption approximately doubles the message size from un-encrypted form, so phiMail message size prior to encryption must be limited to about 5MB (including attachments). This is discussed further in section 4.e of the phiMail API guide. Should you need to send or receive larger messages and elect to transition one or more accounts to the phiMail Plus service option, this is available at volume-based price tiers and supports a message size of up to 33MB prior to encryption.
You can opt for phiMail Plus during account setup by requesting this product from your account representative. To switch to phiMail Plus, contact support@emrdirect.com to modify your account.
